Tabith Awal made new BFF president

Tabith Awal has been elected as the new president of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) following a landslide victory in the BFF polls today held at InterContinental Dhaka hotel ballroom in the capital.
A businessman and two-time former BFF vice-president, Tabith secured highest 123 votes while grassroots level sports organiser from Dinajpur district AFM Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury got five votes during the elections, confirmed BFF's chief election commissioner Mezbah Uddin Ahmed.
Among 133 votes, 128 voters casted their votes, he added. The election started at 2 pm and continued till 6 pm without any break after the elective congress held at the same venue in the morning.
With this election, Kazi Mohammad Salahuddin's 16 years reign came to an end. The legendary former footballer became president of the BFF for the first time in 2008 and on September 14 last, he announced that he would not contest for the fifth term.
A total of 45 candidates are competing for the 21 posts of the BFF executive committee- two for the president, six for four vice presidents, and 37 for 15 executive committee members.
Earlier, incumbent BFF vice president Imrul Hasan has been elected in the post of senior vice president unopposed.
