
SUST student Raju wins Global Leadership Campaign Award

Md. Ibrahim Ali Raju, a student from the Department of Political Studies at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), has made Bangladesh proud by winning the prestigious UPG Journey to Hurricane Island Campaign 2025.Award.
He secured his place as one of the top representatives from South Asia by earning the highest number of votes in an international selection process. Raju will now attend a fully funded, week-long leadership training program on Hurricane Island, USA, alongside other emerging global changemakers.
The campaign, organized by the United People Global (UPG), began in 2024 with over 13,000 applicants from around the world. From these, 1,000 individuals were selected for a rigorous nine-week training in leadership and sustainable development. Upon successful completion, 500 participants were officially certified as UPG Sustainability Leaders. Among them, the top 60 individuals were chosen to attend an exclusive in-person leadership experience on Hurricane Island, based on their demonstrated leadership skills, engagement, and overall impact. To ensure diverse global representation, two delegates were selected from South Asia through an open online voting system.
