
Snakebite claims life of college student in Puthia

A college student named Mithun (23) died due to a snakebite. The deceased college student Mithun is the son of the late Aslam Uddin from Chhoto Kajupara village of Shilmaria Union in the upazila and a third-year Honours student at Abdulpur Government College. The accident occurred at around 11:30 AM on Wednesday in the bill (lowland) of Chhoto Kajupara village in Shilmaria Union of the upazila. According to local sources, in the morning, Mithun went to the bill to water his cornfield. While watering, at one point, he noticed water going into a hole in the field. At that moment, he tried to block the hole with his foot. At that time, a snake in the hole bit his leg. Initially not realizing after the first bite, when the second bite caused a burning sensation, he shone his mobile phone light into the hole, saw the snake, killed it, and then came up to the nearby road and started shouting for help. At that time, in a critically ill condition, local residents and his relatives rescued him and brought him to Puthia Upazila Health Complex. When his condition deteriorated at Puthia Upazila Health Complex, the duty doctor referred him to RAMCH. Mithun passed away while undergoing treatment at RAMCH.
