Slaughter of pregnant cows, mobile court fine in Juri

A mobile court has fined a person named Julhas Mia for slaughtering and selling pregnant cows in Juri upazila of Moulvibazar.
On Wednesday morning, Julhas Mia (45), son of deceased Ainuddin of Belagaon village of the upazila, was fined according to Rule No. 8 of the Meat Quality Determination Rules 2021 (Animal Slaughter and Quality Determination Act 2011) in Kaminiganj Bazar of the upazila.
It is known that Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Sabrina Akhtar came to the scene after getting the news that pregnant cows are being slaughtered and sold in Kaminiganj Bazar. At that time, he conducted a mobile court and sentenced the person accused of slaughtering pregnant animals and selling meat with a fine of 25 thousand taka and 7 days without work. A team of Juri police station assisted the mobile court. Jaifarnagar Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Masum Reza was present on that time.
Confirming the matter, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Sabrina Akhter said that the upazila administration is taking a strict stand against such criminals.
