Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir has distributed safe drinking water and oral saline among over 300 farmers in Karimganj, Kishoreganj, who are currently busy harvesting Boro paddy.
The distribution took place on Tuesday afternoon in the haor areas of Gundhar and Bargoria unions, organized by the Karimganj Upazila branch of Chhatra Shibir.
According to sources, farmers in the haor regions of Karimganj Upazila are enduring intense heat during the month of Boishakh as they work tirelessly to harvest their Boro crops. Considering the heat and their need for hydration, the upazila branch of Chhatra Shibir took the initiative to distribute safe drinking water and oral saline to the hardworking farmers.
Present during the distribution were Karimganj Upazila Shibir President Omar Faruq, Secretary Habibur Rahman Saeed, Finance Secretary Atikul Islam Rakib, Office Secretary Nazmul Islam, Literary Secretary Hafez Kefayatullah, and Gundhar Union President Md. Sanaullah, among others.
Speaking to the press, Omar Faruq said,"Although Chhatra Shibir primarily operates in the student arena, we have a sense of responsibility toward all communities. This small effort of providing water and oral saline is intended to offer some relief to our farmers battling the scorching Boishakh sun. We believe that in a society based on Islamic principles, farmers too will regain their rightful place and due rights."
