Rajshahi Zila Parishad gives wheelchairs to 7 people

Rajshahi Zila Parishad has distributed seven wheelchairs to support the mobility of persons with disabilities, underprivileged freedom fighters, and helpless patients in Rajshahi.
The wheelchairs were distributed on Monday noon at the office of the District Council Administrator. Bir Muktijoddha Advocate Ershad Ali Isha, administrator of the Rajshahi District Council, handed over the wheelchairs to the beneficiaries.
Among the recipients were underprivileged freedom fighters Azizur Rahman and Habibur Rahman, bedridden patient Ambia Begum, and child with a disability Raihan Mahmud, along with three others.
Speaking at the distribution ceremony, District Council Administrator Bir Muktijoddha Advocate Ershad Ali Isha said, “We must carry out our work with the humanitarian values embodied in the belief that ‘people are there for people.’ It is our moral responsibility to stand beside persons with disabilities, underprivileged freedom fighters, helpless patients, and disadvantaged members of society.
“A wheelchair is not merely a means of mobility; it can play a vital role in helping someone lead a more normal life, become more independent, and reduce dependence on family members.
“The Rajshahi Zila Parishad has always endeavoured to work for the welfare of helpless and underprivileged people. We are committed to ensuring that disadvantaged members of society are not deprived of essential support.
“I hope these wheelchairs will make daily movement easier for the beneficiaries and bring some relief to their lives.”
Among those present at the ceremony were Umme Fatima, Chief Executive Officer of the Rajshahi District Council; Executive Officer Rozina Akter Chowdhury; and other officials and employees of the council.
