Since its inception, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has played a leading role in arresting individuals involved in various crimes such as murder, rape, robbery, terrorism, extortion, and drug-related offenses. Through intelligence surveillance and operational activities, RAB has already achieved success in controlling such crimes.
As part of this ongoing effort, based on confidential information, a joint operation team from RAB-8, Barisal, Patuakhali Camp, and RAB-9, CPC-3, Habiganj Camp conducted an operation on July 27 at 2:25 PM in the Banglabazar area under Bauphal Thana of Patuakhali district. They successfully arrested the main accused, Akash Miya (24), son of Md. Nur Miya, resident of Habibpur, Madhabpur Thana, Habiganj district, in connection with the rape of a fourth-grade schoolgirl (12) in Habiganj’s Madhabpur, resulting in her pregnancy.
According to the case details, on February 15, 2025, at around 8:00 AM, the victim went near the accused’s residence in Habibpur village under Madhabpur Thana, Habiganj. The accused forcibly covered her mouth, took her inside his house, and raped her against her will, threatening her not to disclose the incident. Subsequently, on various dates and times, the accused continued to rape the victim in his residence. Out of fear, the victim kept the matter concealed. On May 26, 2025, when the victim fell ill and was taken to Tania Diagnostic and Healthcare Centre in Madhabpur, medical examinations revealed that she was 24 weeks pregnant. The victim then disclosed the rape to her family. Following this, the victim’s father filed a rape case at Madhabpur Thana in Habiganj.
In response, RAB intensified its intelligence surveillance and conducted a joint operation by RAB-8 and RAB-9, successfully arresting the accused. The arrested individual has been handed over to the police at Madhabpur Thana in Habiganj district.
