Students of Jagannath University staged a protest rally against extrajudicial killings, mob justice and anarchy in education. The protest was held under the banner of the General Students' Forum of the university on Thursday.
In the protest rally, the students said, we are noticing that Mob justice is being done in various educational institutions. Two people were beaten to death in Jahangirnagar University and Dhaka University. We protest strongly. Not only in the school premises, extrajudicial killings, Mob justice cannot be established anywhere.
Ivan Tahsib, a student of the university, said, "We want to tell the students that this kind of extrajudicial killing is not acceptable in any way." We will have a demand that if someone commits any wrongdoing, the administration will prosecute him. The administration will ensure its justice, students will help the administration if necessary. We stand against Mob justice today.
Another student, Yasin Piyas, said that if the culture of mob justice continues in the campuses, anarchy will be created as before. We don't want the culture like earlier when Chatro League tortured and tortured someone by tagging them as Jamaat-Shibir. As two people were killed by mob justice, this is not desirable. We want justice in legal process. We want good governance. Students from various departments of the university were present in the protest.
