Protesters block Asad Gate demanding countrywide security improvement

A group of people, including students, blocked the Asad Gate intersection of the capital on Sunday noon, demanding adequate security measures across the country amid a surge in different kinds of crimes, particularly rapes.
Vehicles have been diverted to alternate routes, but a traffic gridlock has been created.
Sher-E-Bangla Police Station Sub-Inspector Arifur Rahman told reporters police high officials were present at the scene of agitation.
Previously, student protesters held a rally at Eden Mohila College protesting a recent surge in gender-based violence and demanding proper security assurance for people from all walks of life.
