Paddy harvesting with combine harvester inaugurated in Patnitala

In Patnitala Upazila of Naogaon, the 2024-25 fiscal year's Rabi season saw the inauguration of block demonstration for synchronized Boro paddy cultivation and paddy harvesting using a combine harvester.
According to the Upazila Agriculture Department, the project covers an area of 50 acres (150 bighas) with a total of 67 farmers involved. Inputs per acre include 12 kg of seeds (variety: BRRI Dhan 88) and 90 trays. Fertilizers used include 90 kg of urea, 40 kg of DAP, and 50 kg of MOP per acre.
The event was organized by the Upazila Agriculture Office at Mobarakpur field in Patichara Union. Present during the sample crop harvesting were Patnitala Upazila Executive Officer Alimuzzaman Milan, Upazila Agriculture Officer Sohrab Hossain, Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Ashish Kumar Debnath, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Jewel Mia, Upazila Agriculture Extension Officer Parvez Mosharraf, Upazila Sub-Assistant Plant Protection Officer Mashiur Rahman, and Upazila Sub-Assistant Agriculture Officer Sharifur Rahman, among others.
Patnitala Upazila Agriculture Officer Sohrab Hossain said, the main objective of the project is to reduce farmers' time and financial losses through agricultural mechanization. To this end, paddy seedlings were produced in trays at the seedbed and transplanted using a rice transplanter machine. Balanced fertilizer application and modern pest control methods were employed."
