Roksana Akhter Pinky, Rangamati

A special meeting was held with journalists from the print and electronic media of the district at the initiative of National. Citizens Party (NCP)  in Rangamati.

NCP's Chittagong South Region (Chittagong Hill Tracts and Cox's Bazar) Regional Supervisor Emon Syed presided over the meeting held at "Amar Bari Restaurant" located in the city's Banarupa area at 11 am on Thursday.

He was accompanied by the party's central and district level leaders, specially the members of the newly formed search committee, who are actively working to strengthen the foundation of the organization in Rangamati and form future leadership.

At the meeting, Emon Syed said, "We call on you to come, join, and participate in building a new Bangladesh."

The meeting was attended by Sarwar Alam and Colin Chakma (Organizer, Workers Wing), and members of the search committee, respectively Md. Imam Hossain Emu, Bipin Chakma, Zakir Hossain Chowdhury, Ujjwal Chakma, Shahidul Islam, Priyo Chakma, Md. Shakil and Sayeda Islam Sadia, along with many other active political activists and local leaders.

The meeting discussed various important issues, especially the long-standing neglect of the hilly region, development disparities, the complexity of the relationship between the hilly and Bengali communities, and how to overcome this crisis and build unity on the basis of harmony.

The speakers said,  a class of political parties in Rangamati and surrounding areas have exercised their long rule and influence and have carried out a kind of 'leadership occupation' in the region, where the rights and voices of the common people have been suppressed. The National Citizens Party is emerging as an alternative to the regime, whose goal is to ensure respect, rights and development for all people, regardless of their hill tribe or Bengali background.

The leaders said, “We believe that in a harmonious Bangladesh, people of all ethnic groups will live, work and lead with respect.”

An important aspect of the meeting was the introduction of the newly formed search committee. The leaders said that this committee will form a full-fledged convening committee in Rangamati within the next 20 days.

The members of the search committee will search for leadership at the grassroots level locally, and will build a strong structure to shape the future of the organization, taking into account its policies, ideals and performance.
