Mobile court fined Tk one lakh : Illegal soil cutting goes on in Kulaura

In various areas of Kulaura upazila of Moulvibazar, brick kiln owners and house owners are cutting fertile soil from agricultural land without paying attention to the rules. As a result, thousands of acres of agricultural land are losing their fertility. Based on such allegations, a mobile court has fined a person named Ali Ahmed 1 lakh taka for illegally cutting soil.
Assistant Commissioner (Land) Shah Zahrul Hossain conducted a drive on Monday noon. At that time, workers involved in cutting soil in that area ran away after seeing the AC Land vehicle. A team of Kulaura police station assisted in the drive.
The convicted person Ali Ahmed said, I drive an excavator machine owned by a person named Rokon Ahmed. The soil from agricultural land is being supplied to various brick kilns and houses for filling.
Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Shah Jaharul Hossain said that the person was fined Tk 1 lakh under the relevant section of the Balu Mahal and Soil Management Act 2010 for the crime of cutting soil during the operation.
In the meantime, 6 trucks have been seized in various operations for illegal cutting of soil and a brick kiln owner in Hajipur has been fined Tk 1 lakh 70 thousand. The operation against such criminal activities that are destructive to the environment in the public interest will continue.
