Land grabbing, beating, false explosive case against family in Rajshahi alleged

A family in Rajshahi has been the victim of land grabbing by a terrorist group.
When they attempted to reclaim their land, they were brutally beaten, and the violence even extended to the women of the family. After the beating, in a village arbitration, the perpetrators were told by the local elders to vacate the land as they failed to produce any necessary documents to justify the land claim.
However, as a final act of harassment, the accused individuals filed a false explosive case against the victim’s family, naming Jalal Uddin (45) as the 170th accused in the case.
On Monday, at 11:30 AM, the victim's family members held a press conference at the Barendra Press Club in Rajshahi, bringing attention to their plight.
In the written statement during the press conference, Jalal Uddin’s wife, Asma Khatun alleged , "We had been in a dispute over land with Nurul Islam, Hanif, Badal, Ruhul, and others from our locality. They had illegally occupied our land. When we tried to reclaim it, on November 12 of last year, they brutally beat my husband Jalal Uddin, my brother-in-law Jahangir, my father-in-law Moksed, and others, including me and the women of the house.
Their intention was to kill us, but thanks to the help of the local people, though we were severely injured, we survived.
After receiving treatment, we filed a complaint at Chandrima Police Station. Since no action was taken, we filed a case in court on November 14, naming the accused. Later, local respected people organized a village arbitration, but the accused could not provide any land documents. Unable to make any progress, they then filed a false explosive case against my husband, naming him as the 170th accused on February 6, 2025, to further complicate our situation.
However, my husband, Jalal Uddin, has never been involved with any political party. He is a simple worker at a rice mill. In this difficult situation, we are seeking justice and resolution from the concerned authorities through the honorable journalists."
