Judge Amirul Islam of Khulna Women and Child Torture Prevention Tribunal has been elected as President and Kushtia Joint District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Mazharul Islam as General Secretary in the elections of Judicial Service Association (JSA ) of professional judges.
A total of 45 judges were elected through voting for 16 positions including the president and secretary general.
The results of the election were announced after polling at the Judicial Administration and Training Institute auditorium in the capital's Fulbaria on Wednesday from 4 pm to 9 pm.
After 25 years, 2,35 out of 2,185 voters across the country cast their votes through online platform elections. All judges are voters of this organization.
Interim Executive Committee President of the Judicial Service Association. Zakir Hossain Ghalib, Secretary General Mohammad Farooq and Director General of Judicial Administration Training Institute Sabbir Faiz were present in the election.
The judges said that during the previous Awami League government, a faction used this organization for political purposes and kept it aggressor. As a result, there was no election for this organization for a long time. This time they elected representatives by voting spontaneously.
