Popular Bangladeshi actors Jaya Ahsan, Mosharraf Karim, and Chanchal Chowdhury have been included in the nomination list for the “Joy Filmfare Awards Bangla 2025”, which was released Monday afternoon.

This year’s programme will be held in Kolkata on 18 March.

Jaya Ahsan’s presence on the Filmfare stage is not new. Since she has been working regularly in Tollywood for many years, her name is in the nomination list almost every year. She was nominated in the Best Actress category for the movie “Dasham Abotar” and Best Supporting Actress for “Ardhangini” in 2024. She also won the award for “Ardhangini”.

So far, Jaya has been awarded four times at Filmfare. This time, she has the opportunity to win her fifth award. This year, Jaya has been nominated in the Best Actress category for her performance in the movie “Bhootpori”.

Mosharraf Karim and Chanchal Chowdhury have been named in the same category - Best Actor (Critics). That is, either of them can get the award. Mosharraf has been nominated for his performance in “Hubba” while Chanchal Chowdhury for his role in the film “Padatik”. Mosharraf Karim played the role of a gangster named Hubba Shyamal in this movie directed by Bratya Basu.

Chanchal Chowdhury started her journey in Tollywood with renowned director Mrinal Sen’s biopic “Padatik” directed by Srijit Mukherjee. Along with Mosharraf and Chanchal, Abir Chatterjee (Badami Hyenaar Kabale), Anjan Dutta (Chalchitra Ekhen), Chandan Sen (Manikbabu's Cloud) and Paran Banerjee (Beeline) are also in this category.

Filmfare has been giving awards to Bollywood artistes, cast and crew every year for seven decades. The scope of this award has expanded in the last few years. Separate events have also been launched for other industries in India. Bengali cinema is being recognised through the “Joy Filmfare Awards Bangla”.

This event will select the best from the films released in West Bengal in 2024. Bangladeshi actors also work regularly in Tollywood. Based on that, they also got a place in the nominations for the Joy Filmfare Awards Bangla. Last year, five artistes from this country were on the list.
