In a drug control operation in the Dakshin Kamargram area of Boalmari upazila in Faridpur, a joint team of the army and police arrested three drug dealers.
From them, 3 kilograms of ganja, 17 yaba tablets, five mobile phones, and ganja-smoking equipment were recovered.
Based on confidential information from locals, a patrol team from the Boalmari Army Camp conducted the raid at 4:30 a.m. on Thursday with police.
During the operation, three individuals—Murad Hossain (37), Ripon Sheikh (40), and Nila Begum (40)—were caught red-handed. It has been reported that they had been involved in local drug supply for a long time.
It is known that the arrested Ripon Sheikh had previously been accused in multiple drug-related offenses. He was last arrested on March 3, 2025, in a raid conducted by the Boalmari Army Camp and, after serving jail time, was recently released. Following his release, he again became involved in drug dealing.
The arrested individuals, along with the recovered drugs and equipment, have been handed over to the Boalmari police station. Appropriate legal action is being taken against them.
According to army sources, the army maintains a zero-tolerance policy against illegal arms, drugs, extortion, and terrorism. Citizens are requested to assist the army camps by providing necessary information to help suppress criminal activities.
