Q: How do you describe your work as a business analyst?

Barua: I see my role as a business analyst as connecting organizational needs with data-driven solutions. I focus on understanding business problems, identifying stakeholder requirements, analyzing processes and data, and translating findings into practical recommendations. My goal is to ensure that analytical and technological solutions address real business needs, improve decision-making, enhance operational efficiency, and produce outcomes that organizations can understand, implement, and measure.

Q: Why is the data foundation so important for modern AI and analytics?

Barua: AI is only as dependable as the data pipeline behind it. My work on AI-ready data engineering examined cloud integration, metadata, data lineage, lakehouse platforms, and MLOps-related practices. Organizations need data that is traceable, reproducible, scalable, and governed before they can expect consistent results from advanced analytics or AI. This foundation also improves confidence in reporting, forecasting, and strategic decisions.

Q: What does a global perspective add to your work?

Barua: Data problems may look similar across countries, but regulation, infrastructure, data maturity, language, user expectations, and organizational capacity can differ greatly. A global perspective makes me focus on interoperability, security, transparency, human oversight, and adaptability. Successful solutions should fit local realities rather than be copied without context.

Q: Why did you study user-centric design and digital business systems?

Barua: A technically accurate system can still fail if people cannot understand, trust, or use it effectively. For both data scientists and business analysts, analytical value does not stop at the model. Insights must be communicated in a form that supports real decisions and improves adoption.

Q: What did your cross-sector research on healthcare, retail, and cybersecurity show you?

Barua: The use cases are different, but many core requirements are shared. Healthcare uses reliable data for diagnosis and monitoring, retail for forecasting and customer experience, and cybersecurity for anomaly detection and rapid response. Across all three, data quality, governance, privacy, real-time processing, and responsible deployment remain central.

Q: What did your financial-services research teach you about applied analytics?

Barua: Financial services show how closely analytics are connected to business performance. Data systems can support risk management, process efficiency, customer service, and better decisions. The main lesson is that a model must fit the business process, the quality of available data, and the decisions users actually need to make. That is where business analysis and data science become most valuable together.

Q: Why is IoT security relevant to your work?

Barua: Modern analytics increasingly depends on data generated by connected devices and distributed systems. If those sources are insecure or unreliable, the analysis can also become unreliable. My review of IoT security examined encryption, authentication, machine-learning anomaly detection, and tradeoffs involving scalability and interoperability. Secure data generation is part of trustworthy analytics.

Q: What is your view of responsible AI and human-AI collaboration?

Barua: AI can improve automation and decision support, but it also changes skills, roles, and expectations. Organizations need technical capability together with training, governance, privacy protection, bias awareness, and change management. AI is strong at pattern recognition and routine processing, while people contribute context, judgment, accountability, and ethical reasoning. I therefore see the strongest systems as collaborative rather than purely automated.

Q: What does the citation evidence suggest about the reach of your work?

Barua: The supplied citation analysis identified 163 distinct citing works, including 157, or 96.3%, classified as apparently independent under a conservative coauthor-overlap screen. That suggests researchers outside the immediate author network found the work relevant enough to use in their own scholarship. The same analysis identified a minimum directly evidenced footprint across 19 national jurisdictions, indicating geographically diverse scholarly engagement.

Q: What direction do you want to pursue next?

Barua: I want to continue working at the intersection of data science, business analysis, and intelligent digital systems. I am particularly interested in scalable data architectures, predictive analytics, responsible AI, cybersecurity-aware data systems, and human-centered decision support. My broader goal is to develop solutions that create measurable value in the United States while remaining adaptable to different technical, regulatory, and organizational environments around the world.
