The retired police officers’ welfare association in Rajshahi organized a ceremony to honour meritorious students of Shaheed  Mamun Mahmud Police Lines School and College, Rajshahi with the “IGP Scholarship – 2024.

 The Commissioner of RMP handed over the awards to the students.

The event was held  at 11:00 AM on Saturday  at the RMP Headquarters, organized by the Retired Police Officers’ Welfare Association. The crest, certificate of honor, and honorarium of the “IGP Scholarship – 2024” were presented during the ceremony. RMP Commissioner Mohammad Abu Sufian was present as the chief guest.

At the event, the Police Commissioner handed over the IGP scholarship honors to the meritorious students and extended his best wishes for their future success.

In his speech, the chief guest said that meritorious students are the future of the nation. Their education, ethics, and human values must be nurtured. He emphasized improving the education system and making classrooms more attractive and of higher quality. He also spoke about the sincere efforts of teachers and the need for students to study regularly.

He further added, “Students should not remain confined to textbooks only. They must also focus on acquiring technological skills, language proficiency, and moral education. Moreover, ensuring cleanliness, discipline, and regular attendance in schools will help improve the overall learning environment.”

This year, a total of 16 students received the merit scholarship—6 HSC candidates and 10 SSC candidates.

Additional Police Commissioner (Crime) Nazmul Hasan, PPM; Deputy Police Commissioner (Headquarters) (recently promoted to Additional DIG) Mohammad Khorshed Alam, PPM; senior officials of RMP; officials of the Retired Police Officers’ Welfare Association; Acting Principal of Shahid Mamun Mahmud Police Lines School and College Md. Shafiqul Islam; guardians and students were also present.
