Husband Md Parvez (36) and his mother Jahanara Khatun (45) have allegedly killed housewife Mukta Akhter (25) at Satbaria area in Chittagong for demand of dowry.
After the beating, the husband and his mother killed her in a planned way using pain drugs.
The incident took place at 10 pm on Sunday night at Naddia Elakha, Ward No. 1 of Satbaria Union of Chandanish upazila. On receiving the news, the bodies were recovered at around 11pm and sent it to the morgue for autopsy.
The deceased was identified as Mukta Akhter(25), daughter of Nasir Uddin of Bhandari Para Hasimpur of ward no 6.
The victim's cousin Sajjad Hossain said the expatriate with my cousin in the 2019 st. Parvez is married as a family. A few months after the wedding, her husband (Oman) left. They are born to a child. He is currently two and a half years old.
Last 3 months ago, the pearl husband returned home from abroad. At present my sister Pearl was three months old. Husband Parvez takes demanded Tk 5 lakh for several months. Since the uncle could not pay the money, her husband and mother -in -law started torturing and beating her at various times. One day after the beating, my cousin and mother -in -law gave my cousin a tablet called pain medicine. After eating them, when he became more ill, we were informed. When we arrived and took him to Dohazari Hospital, the duty doctor sent him to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
Later, on the way to Chittagong Medical Hospital by ambulance, he died when he reached the area of Roshanhat BGC Trust Hospital. They claimed this is a planned murder. Various signs of injury can be seen in the body of the victim.
The father of the deceased Nasir Uddin said, I have endured the torture of the girl, thinking of the two -and -a -half -year -old grandson." I have given money as the demand of son-in-law. Recently, the daughter -in -law came from abroad and demanded Tk 1 lakh again. When he refused to pay the money, his daughter -in -law and mother -in -law were brutally beaten and tortured my daughter and killed her by taking medicines on the day of the incident. I demand the maximum punishment of those involved in the incident. The husband of the deceased pearl, mother -in -law was absconding, could not speak.
In the incident, victim Mukta Akter's father Nasir Uddin filed a murder case at Chandanish police station.
OC of Chandanish Police Station Golam Sarwar said, the body was recovered and sent to the morgue. He said efforts were underway to arrest the accused.
