Human chain demanding withdrawal of false case in Tarail

Common people of Chanati village have formed a human chain under the banner of the locals demanding withdrawal of the false case filed by the opponent against the locals regarding the Makhran Bill of Jawar Union No. 4 of Tarail Upazila of Kishoreganj.
The human chain was held on the banks of the Makhran Bill in Jawar Bazar at 11 am on Wednesday.
People from different classes and professions delivered speeches at the human chain moderated by local resident Nur Mohammad.
The speakers said that Govinda Barman, Secretary of Jawar Fishermen Cooperative Society, leased the Makhran Bill of Jawar Union from the government and sub-leased it to influential advocates Shahriar Khan and Zakariar Khan Paltu Gang of Jawar village.
By taking sub-lease, the President of Jawa Fishermen's Cooperative Society, A. Wahab, and Secretary Govinda Barman, have illegally constructed a dam on the beel. As a result, about 500 acres of agricultural land in the area have been waterlogged, preventing farmers from cultivating their agricultural land. On the other hand, they are illegally digging canals and selling the land. Despite the area of the beel being about 182 acres, the lessees are forcibly occupying the cropland of the farmers in the area and cultivating fish on about 700 acres of land. They are not allowing the farmers to cultivate their land. As the poor farmers of the area have obstructed these illegal activities, Govinda Barman, Secretary of Jawa Fishermen's Cooperative Society, filed a false case under sections 143, 447, 379, 114, 506 with Tarail Police Station on May 29, 2025 (Case No. 13).
When the Makhran Bill was illegally sub-leased to dig canals, sell soil, build dams, and seize farmers' land, the farmers blocked it. Angered by this, the opposing party filed false cases against the locals, causing panic among the farmers in the area.
The locals formed a human chain in the presence of several hundred people demanding the withdrawal of the false cases. The human chain was addressed by freedom fighter Yusuf Ali Master, former teacher of Jawa High School, freedom fighter Siddiqur Rahman, former chairman of Jawa Union No. 4 and former member secretary of Upazila BNP, Md. Akhlaqul Islam Ankur, President of Jawa Union No. 4 BNP Abdullah Khan, senior joint convener of Upazila Jubo Dal Noor Muhammad, prominent social worker Abu Taher Maraj and businessman Mohiuddin (among others).
