Staff Correspondent

This year, no student from 18 educational institutions in Natore could pass the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC and equivalent) examination. The District Education Officer has issued a show cause notice to the heads of the institutions. They have been asked to appear in person at the office within five days along with a report and explain the reason for the failure of the results.

According to the District Education Office, out of the 18 institutions that did not pass, two are MPO-affiliated and 16 are non-MPO institutions. The teaching activities, student attendance, regular examinations and teachers' performance of duties of these institutions will be investigated.

Some of the heads of institutions have cited irregular attendance of students, inattention and lack of preparation in studies, and negligence of parents as the reasons for the disastrous results. Some institutions have decided to apply for re-evaluation of exam scores. In addition, preparations are being made for the participation of students who failed the December exam.

The two institutions under MPO are Chalanbil Technical School and Commerce College in Gurudas Pur Upazila,
Fazil Madrasa in Shakharipara, Naldanga Upazila.
The 100% unsuccessful educational institutions are: Begum Khaleda Zia College in Natore Sadar Upazila, Municipal Women's Technical and BM College in Bagatipara Upazila, Tamaltala Technical and BM College, Tipuria High School and Technical College, Nur Mohammad Biswas Technical School and Business College in Gurudaspur Upazila, Chanchkoir Nazim Uddin School and College, Durgapur School and College, Bangabandhu Technical Science and Information and Business Institute,
Makram High School and College in Lalpur Upazila, Radhakantapur High School and College, Nenggopara Alim Madrasa, Rampur Jamiria Alim Madrasa, Agapara High School and College in Singra Upazila, Sarkutia School and College and Satar Bhag School and College in Naldanga Upazila. Among these, two institutions under MPO are Chalanbil Technical School and Commerce College in Gurudaspur Upazila and Shakharipara Fazil Madrasa in Naldanga Upazila.
Habibur Rahman, principal of Fazil Madrasa in Shakharipara, Naldanga, said that they are surprised that no one passed this year despite good results every year. They will apply for a re-evaluation of the records.
Mokhlesur Rahman, principal of Chalanbil Technical School and BM College in Gurdaspur, said that 23 examinees from their institution failed in Bangla and English.
District Education Officer Rostam Ali Helali said that the heads of the failing educational institutions have been asked to provide an explanation within the next five working days. The next decision will be taken after their reply.
Natore Deputy Commissioner Sumoni Akhter said that the District Education Officer has been instructed to take necessary action after investigating the institutions that passed the exam with zero marks.

This year, 177 educational institutions under the Higher Secondary, Technical and Madrasa Boards in the district participated in the examination. Of these, no student from 18 educational institutions passed.
