House tutor gets death for raping minor girl

A Dhaka tribunal on Wednesday sentenced a man to death in connection with a case for violating a seven-year-old girl in Banasree area of Dhaka in 2021.
Judge Mosammat Rokshana Begum Happy of Dhaka Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-3 pronounced the verdict in the presence of convict Zahidul Islam.
The court also fined the convict hailing from Parikhal village under Barguna Sadar Upazila, Tk 50,000.
Expressing satisfaction over the verdict, the plaintiff said all rapists should receive severe punishment so that no one dares to commit such a heinous crime.
According to the case statement, Zahidul Islam, who used to work as the victim’s house tutor, went to her house in the absence of her parents and raped her on 23 March 2021.
As the victim disclosed, her father later filed the case with Khilgaon Police Station.
The investigating officer of the case submitted a charge sheet to the court against Zahidul on 24 July 2021.
During the trial, the court recorded testimonies from 10 witnesses.
