A large quantity of Indian Fuska, ceramic cups, saucers, Gillette blades, and Basmati rice along with a steel-body boat has been seized by Sunamganj Battalion (28 BGB) recently.
Based on intelligence, a special joint operation team of the Army and BGB conducted a raid near the Noyamatpur Bridge area on the Rakti River in Sachna Jamalganj, southwest of the battalion headquarters. They seized an abandoned steel-body boat loaded with 12,323 kg of Indian Fuska, 169 pieces of ceramic cups, 256 pieces of ceramic saucers, 468 pieces of glass tumblers, 210,000 pieces of Gillette blades, and 600 kg of Basmati rice.
Details of the seizure are as follows: Steel-body boat (1 unit): Estimated value – BDT 6,000,000 (Sixty lakh) ,Indian Fuska (12,323 kg): Estimated value – BDT 3,080,750 (Thirty lakh eighty thousand seven hundred fifty) ,Ceramic cups (169 pcs): Estimated value – BDT 42,250 (Forty-two thousand two hundred fifty) Ceramic saucers (256 pcs): Estimated value – BDT 25,600 (Twenty-five thousand six hundred) ,Glass tumblers (468 pcs): Estimated value – BDT 117,000 (One lakh seventeen thousand) ,Gillette blades (210,000 pcs): Estimated value – BDT 1,050,000 (Ten lakh fifty thousand) ,Basmati rice (600 kg): Estimated value – BDT 240,000 (Two lakh forty thousand)
Total estimated seizure value is Tk 10,555,600.
In this operation, BA-12221 Lt. Talha Zobayer from Shantiganj Army Camp along with 10 personnel, and BGDIO-315 Assistant Director Md. Rafiqul Islam, Acting Quartermaster of Sunamganj Battalion (28 BGB) with 14 BGB members — a total of 24 personnel participated.
Lt. Colonel A.K.M. Zakaria Kadir, Commander of Sunamganj Battalion (28 BGB), stated that as per directives from the higher headquarters, operational activities and intelligence surveillance are being strictly maintained to ensure border security and prevent smuggling. The seized steel-body boat along with the Indian Fuska, ceramic cups, saucers, glass tumblers, Gillette blades, and Basmati rice are in the process of being submitted to the Customs Office, Sunamganj.
