Within 24 hours, the price of gold has been increased again in the local market, hitting a new record in the country’s history.
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has hiked the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 1,260 per bhori, setting the new rate at Tk 182,810, according to a press release issued on Monday night.
The revised prices will be effective from Tuesday.
BAJUS said in the notice that the price of pure gold has gone up in the local market, prompting the fresh adjustment.
As per the new rate, the price of 21-carat gold has been fixed at Tk 174,505 per bhori, 18-carat gold at Tk 149,567, and traditional gold at Tk 123,942 per bhori (11.664 grams).
Besides, BAJUS mentioned that buyers will have to pay 5 percent government-fixed VAT and a minimum 6 percent making charge set by BAJUS along with the selling price.
But the making charge may vary depending on jewellery design and quality.
Earlier on Sept 7, BAJUS last adjusted the gold prices, raising Tk 2,718 per bhori and setting the price of 22-carat gold at Tk 181,550.
