Gas,electricity crisis global, govt to take quick decisions: Advisor Humayun

Prime Minister's Advisor Humayun Kabir stated on Friday that the ongoing gas and electricity shortages are not unique to Bangladesh, but rather part of a broader global energy crisis aggravated by rising fuel prices on the international market due to the Israel-Iran conflict.
The advisor made these comments while interacting with reporters following the foundation stone laying ceremony of the diaspora-funded NRB Medical College Hospital in the Khadimpur Bazar area of Osmaninagar Upazila, Sylhet.
"The government has already formed a high-level committee to address the energy crisis by evaluating ways to diversify energy sources, boost fuel reserves, and bridge supply deficits," Humayun Kabir said, adding that decision-making on these issues will follow swiftly.
Responding to queries regarding a potential foreign visit by the Prime Minister to India, the advisor noted that if an invitation is extended, the government will consider it positively, though no schedule has been finalized at this stage.
Highlighting health sector investments as a top priority for the government, Kabir praised the contributions of non-resident Bangladeshis (NRBs). "Expatriates possess large hearts; without a profound love for their homeland, they would not undertake such significant development initiatives here," he said. "Living abroad does not diminish patriotism—in fact, in many instances, it strengthens it."
