
Freshers' reception, reunion of DUITS held

The freshers' reception, reunion, and handover ceremony of the Dhaka University IT Society (DUITS) was held on Sunday at TSC auditorium.
Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan, was present at the event as the chief guest.
Presided over by DUITS President Md. Abu Bakar Siddique, the event featured speeches by the founding General Secretary of the organization, Arif Dewan, and CEO of Karatoa Green Spinning Mill Ltd., Mirza Farshed Azad Ricky, as special guests. General Secretary of the organization, Md. Gias Uddin, delivered the welcome speech.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan stated that the IT sector is a rapidly changing and evolving field. For the development of this sector, the Dhaka University IT Society must work collaboratively with various institutions. He added that in education, research, innovation, and creativity, the University of Dhaka aims to become a national platform. He emphasized the need to move forward in unison with all institutions and stakeholders in society.
In the second part of the event, responsibilities were handed over to the new Executive Committee of DUITS. Md. Tawhidul Islam and Abdullah Ibn Hanif Arian were jointly elected as Presidents of the new committee, with each to serve for half of the total term. Md. Mehedi Hasan was elected as the General Secretary of the new Executive Committee.
