Faridpur police holds meeting to ensure safe, Eid-ul-Azha

Faridpur Correspondent

Faridpur District Police have intensified preparations to ensure a safe and festive Eid-ul-Azha, with the Superintendent of Police outlining strict directives for cattle markets, highways, banks, business establishments and gold markets.

At a law and order exchange meeting held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the conference room of the Faridpur SP’s office, SP Md. Nazrul Islam said no cattle market will be allowed on highways under any circumstances. Markets must maintain one-way entry and exit points to preserve order.

“To protect traders, every market must have counterfeit note detection machines and CCTV cameras installed. Market authorities will be kept under strict surveillance to prevent the collection of excess tolls,” he said. He added that transporters of sacrificial animals will not be harassed on the road and police will monitor to prevent it.

“The goal of Faridpur District Police is to ensure a safe, harassment-free environment for both buyers and sellers at the sacrificial animal markets,” the SP said.

On highway management, SP Nazrul Islam called for full cooperation from transport owners and workers alongside police to ensure smooth movement. He warned that overcharging fares, operation of unfit vehicles and reckless driving on highways will be strictly controlled.

He also urged banks, insurance companies, shopping malls and gold markets to strengthen their own security, keep CCTV systems operational, and promptly inform the nearest police station about any suspicious object or person.

The meeting was attended by Additional SP (Crime & Ops) Md. Shamsul Azam, Additional SP (Admin & Finance) Fatema Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Police Station Mahmudul Hasan, DIO-1 Inspector Md. Mosharraf Hossain, Faridpur Press Club General Secretary Mahbub Hossain Pial, senior journalist Nazim Bakaul, TI Md.
