Staff Correspondent

Momin Mahadi, Chairman of Natundhara Bangladesh NDB, said that even after nearly 14 months since August 5, 2024, police and journalists are not safe in the country.

General  people are losing their resources, dignity, and even their lives at any moment. Yet, Dr. Yunus’s government continues to remain indifferent in this regard.

He made these remarks while presiding over a daylong training council for the newly elected leaders and activists of the Barishal region, held at Bijoy Milonayoton on October 4.

At that time, Momin Mahadi further stated that although the country’s economy is in ruins, the Economic Adviser and BIDA’s responsible officer, Ashiq Chowdhury, has failed to produce any hopeful results. Similarly, the Home Affairs Adviser Jahangir Chowdhury has failed to ensure public safety.

These individuals, standing on the blood of the martyrs, continue to mock and ridicule the general public day after day. In addition, several advisers are making one anti-people decision after another without considering the will of the citizens. These decisions not only go against the people’s desires but also undermine the country’s independence and sovereignty. Therefore, he demanded immediate steps to ensure the safety and security of the people of Bangladesh.

He also called for the prompt arrest and exemplary punishment of the killers of journalist Hayat Uddin.

The event was attended by Presidium Member and valiant freedom fighter Fazlul Haque, Senior Vice Chairman Shanta Farzana, Vice Chairman Dr. Nurjahan Neera, Joint Secretaries Monir Zaman and Wazed Rana, Organizing Secretary Haridas Sarkar, Law Affairs Secretary Advocate Shah Alam Al Shawon, Aftab Mondal, Salman Sheikh, Md. Hafiz, Jhumur Rani, Nurjahan Begum, Md. Korban Ali, and others.

Speakers at the event protested the deteriorating law and order situation, the Health Adviser’s decision to seek treatment abroad instead of improving the country’s healthcare system, and the government’s failure to control soaring food prices and unemployment. They also demanded the resignation of the Youth and Sports Adviser in protest of these failures.
