
Collision between micro, passenger bus injures 8 in Madaripur
A collision occurred between a microbus and a passenger bus injuring atleast 8 people, including two children, were injured on Tuesday at around 2 PM at Baulgram in Rajoir Upazila of Madaripur district on the Dhaka-Barishal highway.
Due to the accident, traffic jam of about three kilometers occurred on the Dhaka-Barishal highway. Vehicle movement remained suspended for about an hour. Later, with the efforts of the highway police and fire service, the situation normalized and vehicular movement resumed.
Eyewitnesses said , on Tuesday noon, a local passenger bus named Rahima Classic was heading to Madaripur from Tekerhat Bandar of Rajoir Upazila. On the way, at Baulgram area on the Dhaka-Barishal highway, it collided head-on with a Dhaka-bound microbus coming from Barishal.
The front part of the microbus was badly mangled. In the incident, around 8 people including two children were seriously injured. Later, locals rescued the injured and took them to Rajoir Upazila Health Complex for treatment. Two of them were referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
The seriously injured in the accident are—Tanu Begum (30), wife of Saku Sikder from Bauphal Upazila of Barishal; her daughter Sadika (8); her son Sarab (3); her uncle Sohag (35); Mizan (38) of the same upazila; Kabir Hossain (60) of Barishal Sadar; Aziz (55); Kabir (45); and microbus driver Md. Mojibur (50) of Cumilla. All of them have been taken to Dhaka from Rajoir.
However, the bus driver involved in the accident was also seriously injured, police said. OC of the Highway Police Station Md. Sheikh Araf Ali said that no case has been filed.
