Chief Whip of Parliament and four-time Member of Parliament for Barguna-2, Alhaj Nurul Islam Moni, inaugurated several infrastructure and administrative development projects in Patharghata upazila of Barguna on Friday.

During his visit, the Chief Whip also distributed financial assistance, puja grants, and relief goods to underprivileged families and the dependents of injured and deceased fishermen.

On Friday, Nurul Islam Moni inaugurated the renovation and development works of the Patharghata Upazila Parishad alongside the newly constructed saluting dais (salami mancha) on the upazila parishad premises. He also inaugurated the construction of the Lemuya Union Land Office under the second phase of the nationwide "Construction of Town and Union Land Offices" project, aimed at streamlining land administration services for local residents.

Speaking at the inauguration, the Chief Whip said,  the infrastructure upgrades and administrative improvements are intended to enhance the quality and efficiency of public services at the local level.

Highlighting the vulnerabilities faced by coastal fishing communities, Nurul Islam Moni noted that accidents at sea often leave affected families in severe financial hardship, underscoring the government's commitment to providing targeted assistance to bereaved and injured fishermen's families. He also disbursed grants to local puja mandaps to promote communal harmony across the upazila.

During his visit, the Chief Whip offered Friday prayers at the Patharghata Central Jame Mosque, exchanged greetings with local worshippers, and visited the graves of his parents.

Local Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leaders, the Patharghata UNO,  OC of Patharghata Police Station, and officials from various upazila departments were present during the events.
