Chandpur Superintendent of Police Muhammad Abdur Rakib has revamped the district police.

He is staying up late at night to keep abreast of all the issues at the field level. He has proved to a great extent that the police are the friends of the people.
From his personal experience, he has understood that drugs have taken a terrible form and have penetrated every nook and cranny of the present society. Therefore, it is not possible to eradicate drugs completely by punishing them only. For this reason, he has adopted some different methods to make Chandpur district drug-free. He has continued the anti-drug campaign in the populated areas and markets of the district with the help of civil society, with the students and cultural workers of various educational institutions. He has also warned that 'drug dealers and drug users will be brought under strict punishment if they do not change their ways.'
Police Superintendent Muhammad Abdur Rakib has made outstanding contributions in the areas of employment in the police on the basis of merit and ability, crime suppression, bringing criminals under the law, recovering narcotics, accelerating community policing activities, arresting convicted criminals and robbers, declaring zero tolerance for drugs, terrorism, child marriage and torture of women and children, and uncovering the secrets of sensational and clueless cases.
Under his leadership, the internal law and order situation in the district has improved. He has won praise for stopping extortion from all types of vehicles in this district. In order to provide quick service to police clearance certificate candidates and to simplify the process of obtaining the certificate and end the long queues, a hotline has been established in his office and arrangements have been made to issue the certificate within the shortest possible time after receiving the application. In order to avoid road accidents, he has taken measures to follow traffic laws and encourage others to do so. In order to maintain a peaceful environment of law and order, he exchanged views with public representatives, civil society, religious leaders, media representatives, people from all walks of life and all officer forces at various times. Through this, he was able to convey the main message of the district police to everyone.
According to Chandpur District Police sources, in the last one year, the murder of Habibullah in Matlab North Upazila, the murder of battery-powered autorickshaw driver Faruk Hossain in Kachua, the murder of Fatema Begum Rupali in Matlab South, the murder of easy bike driver Mohin Miyaji in Matlab South, the murder of Alamgir Hossain in Shahrasti and the murder of Azad Sarkar of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in Hajigonj were solved.
Chandpur District Police has arrested 5053 accused after thoroughly investigating and solving the mystery of 2194 cases, recovered 28 sharp weapons, 12 firearms, 8 rounds of bullets and 21 rounds of cartridges. During this time, 30,828 pieces of Yaba, 269.382 kg of marijuana, 1.25 liters of domestic, 201 bottles of foreign liquor and 140 bottles of Phensedyl were recovered by Chandpur District Police and those arrested with the drugs were brought under the law.
According to Chandpur District Police sources, due to the successful efforts of the Cyber Crime Monitoring Cell and LIC in 8 police stations under the district, in the context of the General Diary (GD) of mobile phone owners in the case of loss of mobile phones for various reasons, with the help of information technology, a total of 1,141 mobile phones that were lost or stolen in the context of 3,664 GDs in the last one year have been recovered and handed over to the real owners.
According to the relevant sources of Chandpur District Police, 7,771 absconding and warrant-listed accused in various cases have been arrested and handed over to the court. In addition, in the wake of the GD, the district police rescued 654 missing persons (victims) and handed them over to their families. 283 people received services from the Women and Children Support Help Desk and 201 complaints were resolved.
A hotline number has been launched to ensure immediate and round-the-clock service to expatriates. 128 people received services through the Expatriate Welfare Desk and 96 complaints were resolved. Chandpur District Police also said that in the past year, 1210 visitors came in person with the Superintendent of Police and received services, out of which 860 were men and 350 were women.
In the past year, regular police patrols, check post operations, drug control operations, open house days at various police stations, community policing meetings, warning posts on the Facebook page of the district police, press briefings on various sensational incidents, etc. have continued in 8 police stations of the district.

As a very large district, the crime rate in this district is comparatively low, the people are educated and aware. Therefore, we are working with special observation.
