CCX Mayor Shahadat renamed park in memory of Shaheed Wasim Akram

Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain has announced the renaming of Sheikh Russel Shishu Park in Amabagan to “Shaheed Wasim Park” in honor of Wasim Akram, the first martyr of the anti-discrimination student movement in Chattogram.
During his visit to the park on Tuesday (November 19), the mayor emphasized the significance of commemorating martyrs of democratic and anti-discrimination movements. He assured that the park would remain open to the public and committed to its maintenance and cleanliness.
Highlighting Chattogram’s potential as a tourist hub, the mayor stated that steps would be taken to renovate other parks to enhance recreational facilities for residents. He also announced plans to reopen the Karnaphuli Shishu Park in Agrabad and transform an adjacent field into a playground for children.
Expressing concern over the city’s diminishing beauty due to commercialization, Dr. Shahadat shared plans to restore the Biplob Udyan (Revolution Park) as a green space. He added that historical information about the Liberation War, including its connection to Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, would be displayed in the park to educate the younger generation.
Notable Presence: Senior CCC officials, including the CEO, Secretary, and Chief Engineer, accompanied the mayor during the park visits.
