Call to enlighten young generation with Nazrul's ideals

State Minister for Cultural Affairs Ali Nawaz Mahmud Khaiyam called for spreading the non-communalism, equality, humanity, patriotism, and spirit of liberation of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam among the new generation.
He made the call while addressing a discussion and cultural event titled "Chirodiner Nazrul" organized by "Abartan" at the National Theatre Auditorium on Friday evening.
Speaking as chief guest, the State Minister remarked that Kazi Nazrul Islam was not merely a poet of rebellion, but also a poet of humanity, equality, non-communalism, love, and freedom. He noted that the national poet's literature and music have stirred the Bengali psyche through generations, adding that cultural practices must be expanded to instill Nazrul's secular and humanistic philosophy in the young generation.
The State Minister stated that the Ministry of Cultural Affairs has undertaken nationwide programs to mark Nazrul Year, including competitions, cultural shows, seminars, and school-based events to engage children, teenagers, and youth with the poet's life, music, and philosophy.
He emphasized that Nazrul's works should not remain confined to formal events but must be passed down across generations, noting that the poet's ideals of equality and humanity play a vital role in fostering social peace, harmony, and tolerance.
The State Minister encouraged young people to engage in deeper research, reading, and cultural activities on the life and legacy of the National Poet. The discussion was followed by a cultural segment.
