Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus’s upcoming visit to China, scheduled for 26 March, is considered to be a historic milestone, paving the way for a new chapter in the export of Bangladesh’s agricultural products.
“There is significant potential for Bangladeshi mangoes, jackfruits, and guavas in the Chinese market, as the country has expressed strong interest in importing these agricultural products in large quantities,” he said while addressing a press conference in Dhaka on Thursday.
Chinese consumers are very fond of these three Bangladeshi fruit items and the chief adviser’s visit is expected to open a new chapter in the export of these products, he said.
“The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is providing $4 million to us for technical support in maintaining the quality and standards of mangoes for export,” he said during the press conference held at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka on Thursday.
In the last fiscal year (FY24), Bangladesh's trade deficit with China reached around $16 billion
After reaching China, Yunus on 27 March, will address the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) conference focusing on the changing role of Asia in the world.
