Businessmen have staged a protest and formed  human chain in Jaldhaka, Nilphamari, demanding the immediate arrest of top extortionist Shafiur Rahman Sadeq and bringing him under the law on Thursday afternoon.

 A protest rally  was organized by the businessmen in Golna Kaliganj Bazar of the upazila and after parading various roads, the businessmen gathered at the Ziro Point intersection to form a human chain. Golna Union BNP General Secretary Rafiqul Islam Liton, Businessmen Association President Nazrul Islam, Businessmen Abbaz Ali, Nurul Islam Nuru, Atiqul Islam Mithu, Faruk Hossain, Raju Ahmed, Shahidul Islam and Abdur Rahim among others spoke at the time. The speakers in the human chain program said that they have been extorting money in the name of the party since their student days.  Shafiur Rahman Sadek is really an extortionist. He gets by extorting money. He used to take money from every businessman in Kaliganj Bazaar. If no one paid the money, he would threaten him with various cases and because of non-payment of money, a case was filed with Jaldhaka Police Station last Tuesday in the name of 6 businessmen. On the other hand, the businessmen submitted an extortion case against Sadek to the police station, but the case was not recorded.He has no source of income, extortion is his only profession. No one can do business well for him. Therefore, Sadek must be arrested quickly and punished under the law, otherwise the businessmen of Kaliganj announced that they will protest even harder. Jaldhaka Police Station Officer-in-Charge Arju Mohammad Sajjad Hossain said that two cases have been filed and one has been recorded. The other is  under  investigation.
