Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has suspended 21 officials on charge of violating office discipline.

The decision was taken in an emergency meeting of the BSEC held on Tuesday evening. However, the matter was officially announced in an office order by the BSEC on Wednesday.According to BSEC sources, the suspended officials was  informed about  this on Wednesday morning. They have been given letters in this regard. This administrative action has been taken against these officials in connection with the chaotic incident that took place at the BSEC on March 5.The suspended officials include BSEC Executive Director Rezaul Karim, Director Abu Raihan Md. Mohtasin Billa, Additional Director Nazrul Islam, Joint Director Rashedul Islam, Deputy Directors Bani Yamin, Al-Islam, Shahidul Islam and Touhidul Islam, Assistant Directors Jony Hossain, Raihan Kabir, Sajjad Hossain and Abdul Baten, Librarian Md. Selim Reza Bappi, Personal Officer Abu Yusuf.Besides, Directors Abul Hasan and Fakhrul Islam Majumder, Additional Director Miraj Us Sunnah, Deputy Director Nannu Bhuiyan, Government Directors Aminur Rahman Khan, Tariqul Islam and Sameer Ghosh are also suspended.On March 5, the officers and employees of the BSEC confined the chairman and three commissioners for about four hours with four demands, focusing on the incident of sending BSEC Executive Director Saifur Rahman on force retirement.Later, members of the army came and rescued the chairman and three commissioners from the confinement.The officers and employees of the BSEC went on strike on March 6 demanding the resignation of the entire commission, including the chairman, as their demands were not met.A case was filed against 16 officers of the agency at the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station in the capital on March 6.
