On the second day of Eid, Engineer Mohammad Nurul Alam Bakul was hacked to death by his step-brothers in Raozan. Aother brother, Raju Ahmed, was also injured in the attack. The incident occurred on Tuesday  at 2:30 PM in Tita Gazi Bari of Ward No. 7, Holdia Union, Raozan Upazila. The deceased, Nurul Alam Bakul, was the son of Nurul Islam Musa.

Eyewitness Nasrin Akhter Liza, wife of the injured Raju Ahmed, said,  although her brother-in-law was an engineer, he was involved in business in Chattogram city. He had come to his village home for Eid. There was an ongoing court case regarding a land dispute among the brothers. She described him as a peaceful person, but suddenly, his stepbrothers Didar Alam and Nazim Uddin attacked him with sharp weapons. At the same time, her mother-in-law Shahida Begum and sister-in-law Munni Akhter assaulted him with sticks.

"They all brutally hacked and beat him to death before my eyes," said Liza. "When my husband and I tried to intervene, they hit my husband with a stick and then fled. While escaping, they also vandalized my brother-in-law's private car. Later, my husband and some neighbors took the severely injured Bakul to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead."

Neighbor and engineer Elias Talukder said, "Bakul was my junior in college. He was killed by his own relatives over a land dispute. He was respected by everyone in the area. I demand exemplary punishment for the killers."

Raozan Police Station OC Monirul Islam Bhuiyan said , "Upon receiving the news of a murder committed by a brother, mother, and sister using sharp weapons and sticks, we arrived at the scene. We have recovered the murder weapons, including locally made machetes, axes, and sticks, as well as other evidence. A manhunt is underway to arrest the culprits."

It is mentioned that the deceased, Nurul Alam Bakul, and the injured Raju Ahmed were both sons of Shahida Begum from her first marriage. She later married Nurul Islam Musa, with whom she had five more children. In total, she had seven children from both marriages. However, both Bakul and Raju were officially recognized as the sons of Nurul Islam Musa, as evidenced in their national identification documents and academic certificates. The name or identity of their biological father remains unknown.
