
Body of missing youth recovered by Coast Guard, Fire Service in Gazaria

Body of a missing youth was recovered in a joint operation by the Bangladesh Coast Guard and Fire Service and Civil Defence Department on Friday.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander HMM Harun-ur-Rashid confirmed this information on Friday morning. On Thursday (May 1) at around 3:00 PM, seven friends went to bathe in the Meghna River near Char Kishoreganj in Gazaria, Munshiganj. During this time, a youth named Nayon (26) went missing. At around 4:00 PM, local residents informed the Station Commander of Pagla (Narayanganj) about the incident. Upon approval from the Coast Guard Headquarters, the Station Commander of Pagla (Narayanganj) immediately dispatched a skilled team from BCG Station Gazaria—including 3 divers and 6 other members—via speedboat to conduct a search and rescue operation.
Later, a diving team from the Fire Service also arrived at the scene. The Coast Guard and Fire Service diving teams jointly conducted the search and rescue operation and were able to recover the body of the missing person at around 5:30 PM.
The recovered body has been handed over to the Gazaria Naval Police for further procedures.
