Police have recovered the body of an elderly woman named Khodeja Begum alias Minara Begum (85) after she went missing for a week in Shibpur, Narsingdi. The body was recovered from a chicken manure pit on a farm next to Shamsu BSC's house in Joynagar village of the upazila on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased, Minara Begum, was the wife of the late Isab Ali of Jamgar village in Joynagar union of the upazila. Her family said she had been suffering from mental problems for a long time.

Minara often left home and returned after a few days. However, her family said she did not return after going missing from home a week ago.

Locals said that they saw the body lying in a chicken manure pit near Shamsu BSC house in Joynagar village around 12 noon on Sunday and informed the police. Later, Shibpur Model Police Station went to the spot and recovered the body.
Upon receiving the news, the deceased's sons, Motalib and Ruhul, went to the scene and identified the body as their mother.

Family members told the police that after Minara Begum went missing, a search was conducted in various places and a missing person post was also made on the social media platform Facebook.

Shibpur Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Kohinoor Mia said that the deceased Minara Begum had been missing for a week. Locals spotted her body on Sunday afternoon and informed the police. Later, the police went to the spot and recovered the body. As there was no complaint from the family, permission was granted to bury the body without an autopsy after completing the legal process and following the application of the deceased's family.
