Boat race held in Jhalakathi

A boat race was held in the Sugandha River of Jhalakathi. The boat race competition, jointly organized by the Jhalakathi District Administration and the Fisheries Department, started at 3:30 pm on Tuesday from the launch ghat area. 9 teams from Sadar Upazila participated in the competition in 9 boats.
Two separate teams of the Naval Police and Fire Service were present at the boat race to ensure the safety of the participants. When the boat race ended in the area adjacent to the mini park, the Dhansiri Group led by Mahbub Sikder won the first place, the Gabkhan Group led by Chan Mia Howlader won the second place, and the Jangalia Group led by Sobahan Howlader won the third place. A discussion meeting was held at the mini park to distribute prizes to the winners.
Deputy Commissioner Md. Momin Uddin presided over the ceremony, with Divisional Deputy Director of the Barisal Divisional Fisheries Department Md. Mohsin as the chief guest. Civil Surgeon Dr. Mohammad Humayun Kabir, Executive Engineer of Jhalakati Public Works Department Md. Aman Ullah Sarkar, District Fisheries Officer Md. Enamul Haque and many others. The guests handed over the prizes to the winners.
