Bagerhat Deputy Commissioner Golam Mohammad Baten has stepped forward to provide humanitarian assistance to Ekon, an inspiring young student who returned to duty at a Bangladesh Krishi Bank ATM booth on the very night of his father's burial, and appeared for his HSC examination the following morning.
Deputy Commissioner Golam Mohammad Baten handed over financial assistance in cash to Ekon at the Bagerhat District Commissioner's Office at 11 am on Thursday.
At the same time, the Sadar Upazila Administration assured comprehensive support, including cash assistance and food supplies.
The event was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Mezbauddin, Sadar UNO Atia Khatun, and Ekon's maternal uncle, Babu.
Ekon's extraordinary display of resilience—burying his father, working the night shift at an ATM booth to earn a livelihood, and sitting for his HSC exam the next morning—was widely covered in media outlets, including Sokaler Somoy, creating a massive wave of public discussion.
Following the reports, individuals from all walks of life, both at home and abroad, stepped forward to support him. Many benevolent people and organizations have expressed a desire to provide financial and humanitarian aid to help Ekon continue his education and overcome his family's hardships.
It is mentioned that Bagerhat DC Golam Mohammad Baten previously earned widespread acclaim while serving as the Local Government Deputy Director and Administrator of Feni Municipality, where he set remarkable precedents through local infrastructure development and humanitarian initiatives in the Feni district and municipal area.
