Auto-rickshaw driver dies in road accident in Mirsarai

A battery-powered auto-rickshaw driver named Sadek Mia (59) has died in a road accident at the Baratakia bypass area of the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Mirsarai, Chittagong.
The accident occurred at around 5:30 pm on Tuesday at the U-turn area of Barotakia Bazar. The deceased, Sadek Mia, is the son of Mojibul Haque Mistry of Maulana Abdul Jabbar's house in Saidali area of Mayani Union No. 13 of the upazila.
According to local sources, on Tuesday afternoon, while he was crossing a U-turn area in Baratakia Bazar with his autorickshaw, a speeding Probox car hit his autorickshaw hard. He was seriously injured. Later, local people rescued him and took him to a local hospital.
When his condition deteriorated, he was being taken to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. However, he died on the way before reaching the hospital.
Local resident Md. Faruk said that Sadek Mia was seriously injured when a speeding Probox car hit him in the U-turn area of Barotakia Bazar. He suffered a lot of bleeding on his head in the accident. He later died on the way to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
Sharifuzzaman Bhuiyan, in-charge of Zorarganj Highway Police Station, said that a police team was sent to the spot after receiving information about the accident. Further legal action will be taken after collecting detailed information from the spot.
