Staff Correspondent
Momin Mahadi, Chairman of Natundhara Bangladesh NDB, commented that the incident of injuring Gano Adikar Parishad chief Nur and arresting freedom fighters is an assertion of 'neo-fascism'.
He made these remarks during a discussion titled ‘The Resolve to Free Ourselves from the Hands of Neo-Fascists’ at the NDB office on Topkhana Road on Saturday morning.
He further stated, "Are we going to hand over Bangladesh to neo-fascists after enduring numerous movements, struggles, disappearances, oppression, and torture? In 2018, we became victims of enforced disappearances for speaking on behalf of students, youth, and the people. And now we are being threatened for speaking up about the rights of students, youth, people, as well as independence, freedom, and the constitution."
The meeting was attended by Presidium member and freedom fighter Fazlul Haque, Senior Vice Chairperson Shanta Farjana, Acting General Secretary Kazi Munni Alam, Organizing Secretary Wazed Rana, among others.
During the meeting, Momin Mahadi condemned the ongoing political manipulation in the country, stating, "Those who are tarnishing politics today are destroying the country. Consequently, politicians like Noorul Haque Noor are being injured, and freedom fighters, professors, and journalists are being tortured and handed over to the police under the ‘Anti-Terrorism Law’ through mob actions.
We, in the name of politics, are working to stop this deception and are pushing for a politics of the people. We aspire to build a self-reliant country.
