With the slogan "Leave drugs, head to the field, sports build strength, let's play together and build a drug-free society," the Late Daymuddin Howlader Memorial Football Tournament 2026 was held at the Laskarkandi High School field in Kaijuri Union of Faridpur district.

Organized and implemented by Md. Sohrab Howlader, the tournament concluded on Friday afternoon with a vibrant final match.

Chowdhury Nayab Yusuf, the Member of Parliament for the Faridpur-3 constituency, attended the event as the chief guest. Addressing a large gathering, the lawmaker emphasized that the most effective way to steer the younger generation away from drug abuse is to bring them back to the playing fields. She noted that sports keep both the mind and body healthy, acting as a catalyst for societal progress.

The MP further highlighted that under the directive of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the 'Notun Kuri' football tournament had been launched across the country with the sole objective of protecting the youth from the clutches of drugs. In line with that vision, directives have now been issued to organize grassroots football tournaments in every union and ward throughout the Faridpur-3 constituency to sustain this healthy engagement.

Presided over by Md. Olil Howlader, former general secretary of Ward No. 9 under the Kaijuri Union unit of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), the event was attended by several notable local figures. Among them were Faridpur City Jubo Dal President Benazir Ahmed Tabriz, Laskarkandi High School President Mohammad Khalilur Rahman, and Kotwali Thana Jubo Dal General Secretary Md. Mamun Khan, alongside various front-ranking leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliate organizations.
