Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) observed "July Mass Uprising Day-2026" on Wednesday through discussions, documentary screenings, and special prayers at its headquarters in Dhaka, alongside nationwide programmes across all ranges, districts, metropolitan offices, battalions, and upazila levels.
Director General of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP, Major General Abdul Motaleb Sajjad Mahmud, attended the central event at the headquarters as the chief guest.
The day's events commenced with the reading of messages from the President and the Prime Minister to all members. Field-level programmes included laying floral wreaths at memorials dedicated to July martyrs, organizing essay, recitation, and drawing competitions at the Language Martyr Abdul Jabbar School and College located at the Ansar-VDP Academy, and serving high-quality meals to patients at the Ansar-VDP Hospital. Special prayers were held after Zohr prayers seeking eternal peace for the martyrs, good health for injured fighters, and the continued progress and prosperity of the country, nation, and force.
Addressing the gathering, the Director General stated that unethical practices, unprofessionalism, and cultures of irresponsibility across various levels had historically created a gap between public expectations and reality. He emphasized that serving the country and its people with accountability, honesty, transparency, and a sense of duty remains the primary obligation of every regular official and employee.
Highlighting the institutional transformations achieved under recent administrative reforms, the Director General noted that Ansar and VDP have introduced revolutionary changes across administrative, training, and operational frameworks in alignment with public aspirations and state reform initiatives. Through digitization, equity, fairness, and mutual cooperation, the force is evolving into a modern, citizen-friendly, and service-oriented organization, he added.
The Director General praised Ansar-VDP members for their steadfast dedication, professionalism, and patriotism in maintaining law and order at vital installations, government offices, and grassroots levels following the 2024 uprising, expressing a firm commitment to sustaining this role.
During the event, eight documentary films highlighting the background of the July uprising, the necessity of state reforms, and the journey toward a new Bangladesh were screened. The Director General urged all present to internalize the core lessons, values, and messages of the documentaries to serve the public with heightened professional dedication.
The program was attended by Deputy Directors General, directors, various levels of officials, employees, and general members of the force.
