In recognition of the outstanding contribution to the international visibility of Dhaka University and its research, 62 teachers/researchers who have received 2,000 or more citations (Citations) on their Google Scholar profiles have been honored. They were honored at a ceremony organized at the Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on Thursday. .

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam was present as the chief guest at the ceremony.

Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) of Dhaka University Professor Dr. Abdus Salam presided over the program, while Pro-Vice Chancellor (Admin) Prof Dr. Mohammad Almojaddidi Alfesani and Treasurer Professor Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury spoke as special guests. Former Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan of the Department of Development Studies, Prof Dr. Mohammad Moinul Islam of the Department of Population Sciences, Prof Dr. Gausia Wahidunnesa Chowdhury of the Department of Zoology and Professor Dr. Kazi Matin Uddin Ahmed spoke on behalf of the honorees. Prof Dr. Md. Anwarul Islam of the Department of Information Science and Library Management gave the introductory speech and a PowerPoint presentation on the importance of citation.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam congratulated the honored teachers and researchers and said that they have to play a leading role in transforming Dhaka University into a research-oriented educational institution and raising the university's position in international rankings to a respectable level. He said that it is not possible to move Dhaka University forward with government funding alone. For this, the cooperation of the university's alumni and industry is needed. Highlighting the various steps taken by the university administration for the development of education and research, he said that the work of formulating a 20-year academic development plan is underway.
