
6 missing construction workers from Sylhet now in Indonesia !
The six construction workers from Sylhet’s Zakiganj upazila, who went missing while working in Cox’s Bazar, are now reportedly in the sea near Indonesia, according to a phone call made by one of the missing individuals, Rashid Ahmad.
On Tuesday afternoon, Rashid Ahmad made a call from the number +62 821 7243 3250 and informed Bahar Uddin, the brother of missing worker Emad Uddin, about their current whereabouts.
Bahar Uddin stated that Rashid told him they were taken to Indonesia by trawler from Teknaf.
Later that evening, Bahar Uddin, along with relatives of four of the other missing individuals, filed a written complaint at Teknaf Police Station regarding the incident.
While speaking to media personnel, Bahar Uddin said that he received the call around noon from the mentioned number, during which Rashid informed him of their location in Indonesia. However, Rashid did not provide any further details, so the authenticity of the information remains uncertain.
On the afternoon of April 15, six residents from West Loharmohol village under Kholachhara Union in Zakiganj upazila left for Cox’s Bazar in search of work. After arriving in Cox’s Bazar on April 16, they contacted their families. But since then, all their phones have been unreachable.
The missing individuals have been identified as Rashid Ahmad (20), son of Md. Lukuch Ali; Maruf Ahmad (18), son of Faruk Ahmad; Shahin Ahmad (21), son of Azir Uddin; Emad Uddin (22), son of Abdul Mannan; Khaled Hasan (19), son of Sufor Uddin; and Abdul Jalil (55), son of the late Sabr Ali. All of them are residents of the Eidgaon Bazar area in Zakiganj upazila under Sylhet district and were working as construction workers.All of them are residents of the Eidgaon Bazar area in Zakiganj, Sylhet.
On Tuesday evening, Bahar Uddin, along with family members of three other missing men, filed an abduction case at Teknaf Police Station against unidentified individuals. Sub-inspector Nazmul Hasan of the station confirmed receiving the complaint and said that a police team has started investigating the matter.
In his written complaint, Bahar Uddin mentioned that the missing men were all construction workers who had traveled to Cox’s Bazar for work. Rashid Ahmad (21) called from the number +62 821 7243 3250 and informed him of their current location.
When contacted, Zakiganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zahidul Islam Munna said, “We’ve received reports of six construction workers from Zakiganj going missing after traveling to Cox’s Bazar for work. The families have contacted us, and we are providing necessary support. Mobile tracking of two of the missing men shows their last known location was Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar. We’ve advised the families to file a general diary (GD) with the local police, and we are treating the matter seriously.”
Regarding the matter, Teknaf Model Police Station OC Muhammad Gias Uddin stated that police have started investigating after receiving the written complaint.
