In Chauddagram, Cumilla , a passenger bus of Hanif Paribahan, bound for Nabinagar in Brahmanbaria from Chittagong, lost control and collided with a tree on the side of the road when it reached Gangra in Chauddagram on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway.

Three people were killed on the spot and 7 were injured. The accident occurred on Sunday afternoon in Gangra-Padua area of Chauddagram, Comilla on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway.

In-charge of Mia Bazar Highway Police Outpost Mehedi Hasan confirmed the matter. The deceased are bus passenger Md. Nasir Mia (60), son of deceased Madan Mia of Ramchandrapur village in Muradnagar, Comilla, and bus supervisor Shyamal (55), son of Atul Chandra Das of Ramnagar village in Brahmanpara upazila. However, the identity of the bus driver's accomplice has not been found yet.

Seven more people were injured in the accident. The bodies of the deceased passengers have been recovered and taken to the Highway Mia Bazar Police Station. The seriously injured have been rescued and admitted to the Chauddagram Upazila Health Complex. Later, fire service personnel also joined in. On receiving the information, the police went to the spot and recovered the bodies of the three deceased passengers. Then the accident-hit bus was also recovered and brought to the police station..

He said, "One of the three killed was a bus passenger. The other two were the bus supervisor and helper. The driver fled the scene after the accident while injured. The helper's identity has not been found yet. An accidental death case has been registered in this incident."
