3 drug dealers arrested with 36 kg of marijuana in Nikli

Police have recovered a huge quantity of marijuana from Nikli Haor in Kishoreganj. Three drug dealers have been arrested in the incident.
Nikli Police Station conducted the raid in Tenguria Haor of Singpur Union at around 3:15 pm on Thursday.
Police said that based on a tip-off, a special team of Nikli police station arrested three people on a boat while they were smuggling marijuana towards the Chotta port. At that time, 36 kg of marijuana, with an estimated market value of Tk 720,000, was recovered from them.
The operation was conducted under the leadership of Nikli Police Station SI Mostaq and ASI Amjad along with the accompanying force.
The arrested are Arif (32), father of deceased Shukkur, village Alimchar Moni, ward no. 8, Bishnapur, police station Bijoynagar, district Brahmanbaria. Yusuf (38), father of deceased Dulal Mia, village Atka Para Manipur Pattar, police station Bijoynagar, district Brahmanbaria. Hiran Elaich Paran (35), father of Harun Or Rashid, village Manipur Pattar, police station Bijoynagar, district Brahmanbaria.
Nikli Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kazi Arif Uddin said that three people were arrested in the operation and 36 kg of marijuana was recovered from them. The process of filing a case under the Narcotics Control Act is underway in this incident.
Police claim that the detainees had been smuggling drugs using various routes in the haor for a long time. They believe that more information about the drug trafficking ring may come out during their interrogation, Nikli Police Station Officer-in-Charge Kazi Arif Uddin added, "I declared zero tolerance against drugs on that day during the Open House Day and I am trying to protect it. If we get the overall cooperation of the residents of Nikli Upazila, we will benefit a lot. The people and the police are friends of each other, I am hopeful that it will be possible to eradicate drugs with this friendly attitude."
