3 ‘Hizb ut-Tahrir members’ arrested in Uttara

The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police has arrested three suspected operatives of the banned militant outfit Hizb ut-Tahrir in the capital’s Uttara area.
A team of the CTTC conducted drives around 12:15am on Friday and apprehended Monirul Islam, 40, Mohtasin Billah, 40, and Mahmudul Hasan, 21, the DMP said in a press release.
A group of the outfit’s operatives, including the three, were plotting to hold a rally titled “March for Khilafah” in the Baitul Mukarram Mosque area today.
Acting on a tip-off, the CTTC personnel conducted a drive in Sector-11 and Sector-12 areas under Uttara west police station and arrested the trio.
A case was filed against them with the police station under the Anti-terrorism Act, the release added.
